If your question is how can I get pregnant? Then I will honestly tell you to baby dance at the right time. Getting pregnant is not actually the issue but getting it right after many trials and disappointments.

So how do you get pregnant after so many failed attempts? I will give you my simple suggestion in this article. Without doubts I believe that  you have been certified by your Gyn that you are okay. There will always  be little things here and there that you may be over looking

  • Know Your BMI: The first you would want to do is to determine your Body Mass Index (BMI). So what is BMI? BMI stands for Body Mass Index. Everyone has a different BMI. There are reasons why you have to know your BMI as it relates to your fertility.

Everyone’s body type is a little different, but here’s what’s often true based on your body mass index:

  1. If your BMI is below 18.5, you’re underweight.
  2. If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, you’re at a normal weight for your height.
  3. If your BMI is between 25.0 and 29.9, you’re overweight.
  4. If your BMI is 30.0 or over, you’re obese.

The BMI combines your weight and your height into a score that helps you determine if you are underweight, at a healthy weight, overweight, or obese.

BMI is calculated with the following formula:

weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703

or in metric:

weight (kg) / [height (m)]2

To find out what yours is, all you need to know are your height and weight.

For you to be able to conceive naturally and eliminate miscarriages then a BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 is ideal.

  • Take Pre-Natal Vitamins: As it provides vitamins and minerals for your body to help you conceive and helps maintain a healthy pregnancy. Pre natal vitamins that I will advice you take includes
    1. Vitamin A : Are found in foods such as eggs, whole milk, dark green leafy vegetables, carrots and potatoes
    2.  B Vitamins: Found in the following foods meat, fish, whole grains and beans.
    3. Vitex 750 Chaste Tree Extract.
    4. Vitamin C: Vitamin C can be found naturally in foods such as oranges, water lemons, broccoli, and green leafy vegetables.
    5. Vitamin E: Found naturally in carrots, cabbage and spinach, sweet potatoes, lettuce and avocadoes.
    6. Vitamin B6
    7.  Folic Acid about 500mg for cellular division

  • Eat The Right Diet: Avoid as much as possible the intake of junk foods; Foods that contain too much sugar, carbohydrate when injested will deprive the body of the necessary nutrients needed for the proper balance of the body

And as such Interferes with the metabolism of the essential fatty acids you need and it will go ahead to create hormonal imbalance.

Crash dieting and binge eating i.e. eating in a very disordered manner. You have just eating rice, semo comes you on it not after, poundy passes by, you stop over to have a bite, see roasted corn “I go chop”. This habit should also be avoided both before and during your pregnancy as it can have harmful effects on your hormonal levels.

Taking foods especially those that includes vegetables is very good with a blend fresh fruits will fine and not junks.

  • Avoid Medications – Every little thing that happens to your body, you run to a doctor or to a pharmacy especially the road side. There are several prescription medications that can affect male fertility, most of them temporarily but sometimes permanently.

Arthritis medication, depression drugs, high blood pressure medication, drugs for digestive problems as well as antibiotics and cancer drugs are just a few of the medications that can lead fertility problems. Speak to your doctor if you are taking any of these medications.

Avoid buying painkillers such as ibuprofen and aspirin which can effect the ability of the embryo to implant into the womb. Instead use acetaminophen or Paracetamol, which are fine. Antihistamines, which dry up cervical mucus and have a damaging effect on sperm must also be avoided.

  •  Lubrication: Nigerians generally have had issues with lubrication when it is time for penetration. I’ve personally used Vaseline for lubrication but when I discovered that it was bad I stopped it without being told.

Many Nigerians use Vaseline for lubrication. The fact is that Vaseline kills the sperms cells even before it enters the cervix. Simple  truth.

Soap residue also can also prevent conception. Having your hands not properly rinsed after wash or not having the genital area properly rinsed before lovemaking will ruin your chances of conception.

Saliva is another sperm killer. Oral sex before the main thing will spoil chances as there will be residue of saliva on the genital before penetration. I know you have not heard this before. But it is damn true.

These are just a few. Keep it short and simple (KISS) IF YOU HAVE TO USE LUBRICATION PLEASE USE WARM WATER INSTEAD.

  •    Understand Your Cycle Days: This is the most important of them all. It is important you know how long your menstrual period lasts and also to determine your ovulation days. This will enable you figure out exactly what time to make for a baby.

Understanding your cycle will ultimately help you to know if your cycle is irregular so that you can get swift attention.

  •  TIMING: There is time for everything under the sun. In a woman’s cycle which on the average is about 28days.The cycle begins immediately after the menstrual flow. For the first 10 to about 14 days she is infertile as this is a period of egg formation. Then comes the ovulation period which is the fertile period.

This is usually about 3-5 days in which she can conceive if love is made. After ovulation, the fertile phase begins to thin out into the infertile phase and then comes another menstrual period.

In essence, the woman has on the average 5- 6 days in which she is fertile. It is important that you know when you are ovulating so that you can take advantage of your fertile period.

Many just make love anytime thinking that conception will come, big joke, what makes you think that all the days you have been making love where actually your fertile days.

The best time to “baby dancing”  is around your ovulation period. It comes midway of the monthly cycle and that is around the 14th day of the cycle. Not everyone, though a it varies and is dependent on the individual. But there are ways for to know that you are near ovulation.

i. Presence of thick and white cervical fluid

ii. Increased body temperature

iii. You feel honier during this period.

Iv. Cervix will become softer, wetter and harder to reach thereby feeling open to touch. When it is softest and hardest to reach then you are ovulating.

Though you may need to get an Ovulation Predictor Kit inorder to follow through your cycle.
